We’d rather tell you your tires are fine than sell you a set you don’t need. Come in for a free tire inspection and we’ll measure all four, check pressures, look for uneven wear patterns and show you what we find. In the meantime, here’s what to look for yourself:
2/32″ is the legal minimum in Arizona, but wet grip falls off well before that – most drivers should start shopping at 4/32″.
the flat rubber strips running across the grooves. If they’re flush with the tread surface, the tire is done.
worn on one edge, worn in the middle, or scalloped means alignment, inflation or suspension trouble – worth diagnosing before you buy new ones.

Our tire store sells and installs new tires for vehicles throughout Phoenix and the surrounding Valley. Honest pricing and standing behind the work are what make the best tire shop in Phoenix, and that is the standard we hold. Finding the right tires does not have to be confusing. Our team helps you compare your options based on your vehicle, driving needs and budget, so you can choose with confidence.
Arizona’s hot weather and high pavement temperatures can be tough on tires. Over time, heat, sun exposure, road conditions, and everyday driving can cause tires to wear, crack, or lose their ability to provide proper traction. That’s why regular tire inspections are important for Phoenix drivers.
When you are ready for new tires, we help you find the right fit for your vehicle and take care of the installation. Every set includes professional mounting and balancing, tire pressure checks, and an alignment check to help your new tires wear properly and perform as they should.
Not sure if you need new tires yet? Look for signs such as low tread, uneven tire wear, frequent air loss, vibration, pulling, or visible cracks and dry rot. If you notice any of these issues, bring your vehicle to Pete Kelley’s Auto Service. We can inspect your tires and let you know whether a repair may be enough or if replacing your tires is the safer choice.
Whether you need one replacement tire or a complete set, our goal is simple: make buying new tires easy, straightforward, and stress-free. We’ll explain your options, answer your questions, and help you get back on the road safely.

Real feedback, real ratings – across the platforms that matter most.
Look for tires with a high temperature rating (A is the best), a heat-resistant rubber compound and a tread pattern suited to how you drive. All-season tires suit most cars, while all-terrain tires suit trucks used off-pavement. We recommend new tires in Phoenix based on your vehicle and driving, not the brand with the biggest margin.
Tread may last 40,000 to 70,000 miles, but heat and UV often age tires before the tread wears out. Many Phoenix drivers need new tires every three to five years because of sidewall cracking. Check the four-digit date code on the sidewall to see a tire’s age.
Replace tires when tread reaches 2/32 of an inch, the legal minimum, though 4/32 is safer for wet roads. Also replace them if you see sidewall cracks, bulges or exposed cords, or if the tires are more than about six years old.
Dry rot is cracking in the sidewall and tread caused by heat, sun and age. It’s common in Arizona, even on tires with plenty of tread left. Dry-rotted tires can fail suddenly, so they should be replaced.
On all-wheel-drive vehicles, usually yes, because mismatched tread depth can strain the drivetrain. On other vehicles, you can replace tires in pairs, and the new pair should go on the rear axle for stability. Pete Kelley’s checks alignment with every set of new tires in Phoenix.
Tire prices depend on the size, the type and the brand. We quote two or three options with the full installed price, including mounting and balancing, so you can compare before you buy.
