If there is one Land Rover system that Phoenix owners eventually discuss with us, it is the air suspension. We handle Land Rover repair in Phoenix for the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Velar, Evoque, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Defender and LR4, and air springs, compressors and suspension faults are a large share of the Land Rover work on our lifts on North Central.
That is not the whole picture. The 5.0L V8 and the 3.0L supercharged V6 both have known coolant leak points, oil leaks follow the heat, and a weak battery can trigger a dashboard full of unrelated warnings. A Land Rover rewards early attention more than almost any vehicle we service.
Models we service: Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Range Rover Velar, Range Rover Evoque, Discovery, Discovery Sport, Defender, LR3 and LR4.
Land Rover’s service intervals assume moderate temperatures and mostly paved driving. Phoenix adds extreme heat, dust and pothole-heavy roads, all of which age air suspension rubber, cooling plastics and filters faster. We follow the factory plan and add the inspections that catch Arizona failures early.
Interval | What we perform |
30,000 miles | Full synthetic oil and filter to Land Rover spec, cabin and engine air filters, brake fluid flush, tire rotation, air suspension leak and ride height check, cooling system pressure test, battery test |
60,000 miles | Spark plugs, automatic transmission fluid service, transfer case and differential fluids, four-wheel alignment, drive belt inspection |
90,000 miles | Coolant flush, water pump and coolant pipe inspection, air compressor duty test, control arm bushing inspection, valve cover and timing cover leak inspection |
A “Suspension fault” or “Normal height only” message, a corner that sags overnight, or a compressor that runs constantly. Heat and UV dry out the rubber air springs until they crack, and every leak makes the compressor work harder until it overheats. We locate the leak first, then repair the spring, valve block or compressor through our shocks and suspension service. Replacing only the compressor without finding the leak usually means replacing it again.
A low coolant warning, a sweet smell, or coolant pooling at the back of the engine. The 5.0L V8 uses plastic coolant pipes that crack after years of heat cycling, and the 3.0L supercharged V6 is known for water pump leaks. An overheated aluminum engine is expensive, so our cooling system repair pressure-tests the system to find the exact source.
A burning oil smell after a drive, or oil wetting the underside of the engine. Heat hardens gaskets, and on a tightly packaged Land Rover engine, leaking oil lands on hoses, wiring and the exhaust. We identify which seal is leaking and repair it through our engine repair team before it damages anything else.
Several unrelated warnings at once, a no-start after the car sits, or infotainment that reboots on its own. Land Rovers have many electronic modules, and a battery weakened by Phoenix heat can make them report false faults. We test the battery and charging system and measure parasitic drain before chasing individual warning lights.
Land Rovers are heavy, often ride on 20- to 22-inch wheels, and wear tires fast when anything is off. The step most shops miss is that air suspension ride height must be correct and calibrated before alignment, or the alignment is wrong the moment the vehicle changes height. We verify ride height, inspect control arm bushings and align all four corners in house.

Usually at reduced speed and ride height, but not for long. A leaking system overworks the compressor, turning a single air spring repair into a compressor replacement as well.
On the 5.0L V8, plastic coolant pipes are a common source. On the 3.0L supercharged V6, the water pump is a frequent culprit. A pressure test confirms which one.
