Oil needing topping up between changes on RX 350, ES 350, GS 350 and IS 350 models. The 2GR-FE has documented consumption tendencies that heat increases. Monthly level checks are the practical answer, and if consumption is significant we test rather than assume. An engine run low on oil rarely announces the damage until it is done.
A sudden and dramatic oil leak on certain earlier RX and ES models fitted with a rubber section in the VVT-i oil supply line. When it ruptures it dumps oil quickly. If your vehicle is from that era and has not had the updated all-metal line fitted, it is worth verifying this is a small inspection that prevents a very bad afternoon.
The vehicle sitting unevenly, refusing to change height, or displaying a suspension warning. Air springs and the compressor both suffer in sustained desert heat. Diagnosing whether the fault is a spring, the compressor, a height sensor or a valve block is what keeps the repair proportionate.
A hybrid system warning, or a vehicle that will not power up despite a healthy hybrid battery. The inverter cooling pump is heat-sensitive, and the 12V auxiliary battery in a hybrid has a harder life than most owners expect in this climate. Both are inexpensive to check and expensive to ignore.
Lexus vehicles isolate you from the road so effectively that alignment problems announce themselves through the tire bill rather than the steering wheel. On an RX or ES, inside-shoulder wear is common and almost always rear alignment. We measure all four corners and correct what we find, which is not something a tire-only shop can offer.
